Iran Asked to Meet in Qatar as Tehran Denies Doha Talks: President Donald Trump
WASHINGTON, June 29, (VoM News ): Iran had asked for a meeting with U.S. Officials and expected talks to be held in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said Monday, a day after Tehran denied new negotiations had been scheduled.
Tehran denied on Monday the reports of new technical talks in Doha as the two countries scramble to hold a fragile 60-day intermediate deal designed to cut Iran’s enriched uranium output.
However, Iran has maintained consultations were ongoing with the Qatari government to implement previously signed commitments.
In an interview with PBS President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran said the deal includes ways to reduce Iran’s stockpiled enriched uranium, suspend certain sanctions backed by the U.S. And keep the shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz open pending further talks.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government said $6 billion in assets frozen in Qatar will be unblocked but U.S. Officials say no Iranian assets have been handed over to Tehran and the government of Qatar did not confirm the report.
Concerns of derailing recent U.S. Attempts to avoid further escalation had surged following renewed military exchanges in the Gulf between Iran and other actors in the region and Iranian attacks on ships.
Trump did cite the decline in crude prices this week, calling it “the good news,” and credited the interim agreement for helping stabilize oil prices even though the main global crude benchmark was still quoted above levels it commanded before the beginning of the crisis that led to last month’s talks.
