
Doda East MLA Mehraj Malik Not Allowed to Hold Jammu Kashmir Statehood Protest at Jantar Mantar
Doda, June 22, 2026 [VoM News]: Mehraj Malik has said that permission has not been granted for his proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi seeking the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader and Jammu and Kashmir unit president had planned to begin a day-and-night protest from June 23 in support of the statehood demand. He had earlier applied for permission from the authorities to hold the demonstration.
Malik disclosed the development through a post on Facebook, stating that his request for permission had been denied. He added that he would make further efforts to secure approval for the protest.
The issue of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood has gained renewed political attention in recent weeks, with several parties and leaders stepping up their campaigns on the matter.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also announced plans to raise the issue through a protest at Jantar Mantar during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Malik has been among the political leaders advocating for the restoration of statehood, describing it as a key democratic demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
