Assam Rifles and State Police Seize Narcotics Worth Lakhs, Apprehend Peddlers in Three Operations
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with state police, conducted multiple successful operations resulting in the seizure of narcotics and the arrest of drug peddlers in different regions.
In the latest joint operation with Baskandi police station in Assam’s Cachar District, 22.68 grams of brown sugar, valued at Rs 9.7 lakh, were confiscated. Four drug peddlers were apprehended along with a vehicle during this operation. The apprehended individuals, the seized narcotics, and the vehicle were handed over to Baskandi police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
A previous incident on December 26 saw Assam Rifles Battalion and Patharkandi police station personnel jointly seizing 23.7 grams of brown sugar valued at approximately Rs 9.40 lakh from Nagaria Village under Patharkandi Police Station area. Two individuals were apprehended during this operation, and all seized items were submitted to Patharkandi Police Station for subsequent legal actions.
Highlighting their commitment to a drug-free society, Assam Rifles, in another operation on December 17, collaborated with the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) and Ambassa police in Tripura’s Dhalai district. This joint effort led to the confiscation of 160 kilograms of marijuana worth Rs 70 lakh. The seized narcotics were successfully recovered, aiming to curb drug trafficking activities in the region.
These operations underscore the vigilant efforts of security forces in curbing the illegal drug trade, emphasizing the collective commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment and ensuring strict adherence to the law.
