
India–Mongolia Friendship Tree Planted at Lok Niwas in Ladakh, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena Calls it a “Symbol of Friendship”
LEH, JUNE 16, 2026 [VoM News]:In a major boost of relations between India and Mangolia, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday planted a sapling named the India Mongolia Friendship Tree at Lok Niwas in Ladakh.
This boost would symbolize the longstanding cultural and spiritual ties between India and Mongolia.
The sapling, a Mongolian Larch, was gifted by Indian Ambassador to Mongolia Atul Malhari Gotsurve on behalf of the people of Mongolia.
following the conclusion of a 10-day exposition of sacred Buddhist relics in the East Asian country. The relics, associated with two prominent disciples of Lord Buddha, were recently taken to Mongolia as part of a cultural and spiritual outreach initiative led by an Indian delegation headed by Saxena.

As per officials, the tree plantation was intended to strengthen civilisational bonds and deepen diplomatic relations between the two countries through their shared Buddhist heritage and cultural connections.
The gesture also reflects growing cooperation between India and Mongolia in the fields of spirituality, community engagement, and heritage preservation.
While taking to ‘X’, Saxena described the planting of the sapling as an honour and said the India–Mongolia Friendship Tree would serve as a lasting symbol of peace, harmony and brotherhood between the two nations.
