Pak Army Mi-17 Helicopter Crashes in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, June 10, 2026 [VoM News]: A Pakistan Army helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday due to a reported technical fault during take-off, according to the Pakistani military. Officials said there were no survivors in the incident.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the Mi-17 helicopter belonging to Pakistan Army Aviation went down shortly after take-off near Muzaffarabad. It added that all personnel onboard were killed, though the exact number of casualties was not disclosed.
The crash occurred amid heightened tensions and heavy security deployment in Muzaffarabad following growing unrest in the region. Authorities have recently intensified security measures after a protest movement announced plans to hold demonstrations despite being banned by the local administration under anti-terror laws.
The banned group had been organising protests over political and governance-related issues in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to clashes with security forces in recent days. The region has witnessed shutdowns, increased troop presence and restrictions on public gatherings amid fears of further unrest.
Officials have not yet released detailed information regarding the cause of the technical fault or the identities of those killed in the crash. An investigation into the incident is expected to be launched by the military authorities.
