MLA Doda East Mehraj Malik Seeks Restoration of Escort Vehicle, Cites Security Concerns
DODA, June 4 (VoM News): MLA Doda East Mehraj Malik has written to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir seeking the immediate restoration and retention of his escort vehicle, citing serious security concerns linked to his political and public engagements across the Union Territory.
In a letter dated June 4, 2026, addressed to Manoj Sinha, the Doda MLA and Jammu and Kashmir president of the Aam Aadmi Party stated that his escort vehicle had recently been withdrawn despite repeated representations to the concerned authorities.
Malik said the withdrawal of the escort vehicle has exposed him to “considerable risk,” particularly in view of his public responsibilities, regular interactions with people and extensive travel across Jammu and Kashmir.
He maintained that adequate security support is necessary both for his personal safety and for enabling him to effectively carry out his public duties.
The MLA urged the administration to intervene and issue necessary directions for the immediate restoration of the escort vehicle in the interest of public service and security.
A copy of the communication has also been forwarded to the Home Department secretary for information and further action.
The issue comes amid ongoing discussions regarding security arrangements for political leaders and elected representatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
