    WEST BENGAL, MAY 27, 2026 [VoM News]: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee which was accused of hurting the sentiments and promoting communal tensions over alleged remarks over Sanatan Dharma made during an Eid event in Kolkata last year.

    Regarding the accusations, a complaint has been filed by advocate Rinki Chatterjee Singh at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station against Mamata Banerjee.

    As per details available with VoM News, citing the ANI report, complainant has accused the Mamata Banerjee of using remarks referred to Sanatan Dharma as “ganda dharma,” which per as complaintant has offended million of followers.

    Another statement has been mentioned in FIR which was made by Mamata during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election campaign where she warned of severe consequences if a particular community attacks Hindus.

    The complainant stated that alleged statement created a state of fear of social division.

    Under multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police have registered the case which include the criminal intimidation, intentional insult aimed at provoking breach of peace, and promoting enmity between religious groups.
