Mehraj Malik PSA Case: Hearing Deferred Till February 23

Srinagar, Feb 20: The hearing in the Public Safety Act (PSA) case of MLA Mehraj Malik was deferred on Thursday after arguments remained inconclusive. The matter will now be taken up again on February 23, 2026.

Earlier, on February 19, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh had heard the habeas corpus petition, and set today’s date for hearing.

Additional Advocate General Monika Kohli will continue her arguments and submissions on the next date of hearing.

Malik, who is the Aam Aadmi Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit president, was detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 8 for allegedly disturbing public order. He was subsequently lodged in Kathua jail.

On September 24, Malik filed a habeas corpus petition challenging his detention. In his plea, he also sought ₹5 crore as compensation, alleging unlawful detention.

Further developments in the case are awaited as proceedings resume on February 23.
