
Doda Police Organises ‘Dangal’ at GDC Doda Under Civic Action Programme
DODA, February 17, 2026: Continuing its youth outreach initiatives, the Doda Police organised a grand wrestling competition (Dangal) at Government Degree College Doda under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26.
The event was held in the presence of SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) as Chief Guest, along with Nodal Officer CAP Mohd Aslam, ASP Headquarters Doda, senior police officers, officials and members of civil society. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from local as well as outside wrestlers and drew a large gathering of spectators, particularly youth from across the district and neighbouring areas.
A total of 23 bouts were conducted, including initial rounds, small bouts, special bouts, semi-finals and the grand finale. Attractive cash prizes were awarded to winners and runners-up at every stage.
In the semi-finals, Surjeet (Reasi) defeated Harnam (Jammu) and Nadeem (Doda) overcame Aqib (Billawar). Both winners received ₹15,000 each, while the runners-up were awarded ₹10,000 each.
Nissar Clinches Grand Finale, Wins ₹30,000
The grand finale saw Nissar (Doda) face Bablu (Udhampur) in an exciting contest. Nissar emerged victorious and was awarded a cash prize of ₹30,000, while runner-up Bablu received ₹20,000.
The event was conducted in a disciplined and sportsmanlike atmosphere, aimed at promoting traditional sports, physical fitness and positive youth engagement, while strengthening police-public relations.
Doda Police Register FIR, Detain Man Over Alleged Disrespect to National Flag
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sandeep Mehta said such sporting events provide a valuable platform for young players to showcase their talent and prepare for higher-level competitions at the state and national levels. He also urged parents to encourage children to participate in sports activities to keep them away from negative influences.
Participants and spectators appreciated Doda Police for organising the vibrant event and for supporting local talent while preserving the traditional sport of wrestling.
