On Saturday, law enforcement officials announced the apprehension of a notorious motorcycle thief in the town of Sopore, located in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir. This significant arrest resulted in the recovery of 13 stolen motorcycles and the resolution of six separate theft cases.
During a press conference held at the Sopore Police Station, Dr. Raies Ahmed Mir, the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), provided details of the operation. He explained that a specialized team, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shabir Nawab, successfully captured the motorcycle thief, Baber Bashir Palla, in Krankshivan Village. “As a result of this operation, thirteen stolen motorcycles were reclaimed,” SDPO Mir stated, with the implication that additional recoveries were still anticipated.

The arrest of Palla has led to the resolution of at least six theft cases that had been registered earlier this year, according to the SDPO. Additionally, he urged prospective buyers to exercise caution and thoroughly vet the credentials of sellers. “Prior to purchasing a vehicle, it is crucial for buyers to ensure that sellers meet all essential criteria, including the verification of documents and the assessment of selling prices,” he advised.
Baber Bashir Palla, who hails from Krankshivan Village, had been residing in rented accommodations at various locations within the town, including Muslimpeer and Arampora, as disclosed by Mir.
