Strait of Hormuz Traffic Falls as Iran Responds to Israeli Strikes in Lebanon, States Maritime Intelligence Firm Windward

New Delhi, June 22, 2026 [VoM News]: After Iran announces the closure of the key energy route in reply to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, the ship traffic fell sharply states the maritime tracking data.

The data of maritime intelligence firm Windward showed the exit of only 12 vessels from the viral Strait of Hormuz. Earlier to this, nearly 35 vessels made their transit.

A higher presence of Iranian vessels could be seen as per Windward which depicts the traffic pattern, as this decline hits a new low after the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) made a stern announcement reading the closure of the key energy route after Israel struck the Lebanon through airstrikes, to which Tehran calls non-bearable and unacceptable.

Whereas, the United States disputed the claim saying safe passage through the strait remained intact and that commercial shipping operations were continuing.
