Vivo unveils Android 15-based Origin OS 5 with AI features: Release date, details

Vivo has launched its latest operating system (OS), Origin OS 5, in China, based on Android 15. The update brings a host of new features, including enhanced home and lock screen customization, dynamic effects, and an upgraded Little V assistant. A notable addition is the introduction of “Atomic Island,” similar to the Dynamic Island feature seen on recent iPhones. Origin OS 5 also integrates AI capabilities for video editing, real-time translation, and writing tools.

Key Features of Origin OS 5:

1. Upgraded Little V Assistant: The assistant can highlight parts of the screen, initiate a visual lookup, take calls on the user’s behalf, summarize conversations, and transcribe in multiple languages. It also offers writing tools for notes, documents, and emails.
2. Customization: Users can personalize home and lock screens with situational wallpapers, editable control toggles, and various customization options like materials, colors, and layouts. The new “Mood Wallpaper 2.0” includes AI-powered dynamic wallpapers, which adjust according to the time and weather.
3. Atomic Island: A new feature similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, offering quick access to notifications and interactions.
4. Vivo Sans Typeface Enhancement: The OS has improved readability and now supports Greek and Cyrillic scripts, covering up to 26 languages.
5. AI Capabilities: The AI features include dialect-to-text translation for various Chinese dialects and sign language generation. Users can also snap pictures and receive real-time information using the AI assistant.
6. Dynamic Weather Visuals: The weather app now displays real-time weather conditions such as dynamic rain and snow visuals.

The beta version of Origin OS 5 will be available in November for the following devices in China:
