14 Kashmir University Professors Recognised Among World’s Top Scientists

The University of Kashmir (KU) has made a significant mark on the global academic stage, as fourteen of its professors have been named among the world’s top 2 percent most widely cited scientists for 2024, according to data released by Stanford University.
This marks a notable rise from nine professors in 2022 and eleven in 2023, highlighting the university’s increasing prominence in research and academia.
The recognized faculty members include distinguished experts from various fields: Prof Farooq A Masoodi (Food Technology), Prof Shakeel A Romshoo (Earth Sciences), Prof Ghulam Jeelani (Earth Sciences), Prof Manzoor A Shah (Botany), Prof Aziz-ul-Azeem (Mathematics), Prof Imtiyaz Ahmad (Zoology), Prof Firdous Ahmad Khanday (Biotechnology), Dr Manzoor A Mir (Bioresources), Dr Shabir A Parah (Electronics), Dr Farooq Ahmad Khanday (Electronics), Dr Adil Gani (Food Technology), Dr Idrees Ahmad (Food Technology), Dr Faheem A Sheikh (Nanotechnology), and Dr Mudasir Ahmad (Food Technology).
Stanford University’s list, which was first published in 2019, is based on bibliometric data, including standardized citation indicators, h-index, co-authorship, and other metrics. This year’s update recognizes over 180,000 researchers worldwide for their contributions to scientific research.
KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan lauded the faculty’s relentless dedication to innovation, stating that their achievements have bolstered the university’s standing in global academia.
KU Registrar Prof Naseer Iqbal echoed these sentiments, expressing pride in the faculty’s inclusion in the prestigious list, which he believes serves as an inspiration for the entire university community to strive for continued excellence.
