Omar Abdullah Challenges BJP in Kashmir Valley
National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah has thrown down the gauntlet to the BJP in the Kashmir Valley, daring them to contest Lok Sabha polls. He boldly stated that he would quit politics if BJP candidates didn’t lose their security deposits in the region, emphasizing the need for the BJP to back up its claims of development and normalcy by fielding candidates in the Valley.
NC’s Strategy and Response to BJP’s Allegations
Abdullah, flanked by his father and NC president Farooq Abdullah, announced his candidacy from Baramulla while emphasizing the party’s readiness to take on the BJP’s challenges. He questioned why the BJP was resorting to various tactics to defeat them if they had truly done nothing for Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah also highlighted the reported meetings between BJP officials and other parties, accusing them of dancing to BJP’s tunes.
Challenges and Alliances: NC’s Roadmap
The NC vice president addressed concerns about the BJP’s attempts to influence the upcoming elections, expressing confidence in his party’s strength. He reiterated the NC’s willingness to form alliances, including with the Congress, while criticizing the BJP’s handling of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the abrogation of Article 370.In a bold move, Abdullah asserted that the NC had kept its doors open for alliances in the upcoming assembly elections, emphasizing the need for unity in the face of challenges.
