Indian indices extend gains: Sensex hits 73115.62, Nifty 50 at 22180.70 intraday

Indian benchmark indices sustained their upward trend for the second consecutive day on Friday, with Sensex reaching a high of 73,115.62 and Nifty 50 climbing to 22,180.70 intraday.

Top Gainers and Drags

Sun Pharma, Maruti Suzuki India, and IndusInd Bank led the gains on Sensex, while IT stocks like Infosys and Wipro were among the top drags. On Nifty 50, Hero MotoCorp and Maruti Suzuki India were the top gainers, while IT giants like Infosys and Wipro weighed down the index.

Broader Market Performance

The broader market also closed in the green, with BSE SmallCap Index rising by 1.06% and BSE MidCap index by 0.38%. However, the IT sector was the only index to close in the red, down by 2.33% at the end of the day.

Sectoral Performance

Realty and Auto sectors showed significant gains, followed by Healthcare, Pharma, Media, and Metal sectors. Other heavyweight indices like FMCG, Consumer Durables, Bank, Financial Services, and Oil & Gas also ended the day on a positive note.
