Tripartite MoU to Empower Rural India
Meanwhile, the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prasar Bharati and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This aligns with the vision of the Prime Minister to emphasize digital innovation for rural empowerment.
USOF’s Role in Facilitating Broadband Services
USOF has been instrumental in providing high-speed broadband and mobile connections across Gram Panchayats (GPs) and villages nationwide. The MoU aims to ensure efficient and high-speed broadband services in rural and remote areas, with USOF facilitating this aspect.
Prasar Bharati’s Contribution to Digital Services
Under the MoU, Prasar Bharati will offer bundled OTT services, including linear channels, Live TV, and on-demand content, to end consumers. This collaboration underscores the collective effort towards leveraging digital infrastructure to empower rural India and bridge the digital divide.
