Truck Plunge in Philippines 15 dead

Tragedy struck on Wednesday in the central Philippines as a truck carrying people to a livestock market on Negros island veered off the road and plunged into a ravine, claiming the lives of fifteen individuals.

According to Michael Cabugnason, a rescue official from Mabinay municipality, witnesses reported that the truck lost control on a sharp bend in the mountainous area near Mabinay, which has been a frequent site of road accidents.

Out of the 17 people on board, only the driver and one passenger survived. The driver was discovered amidst the wreckage, soaked in motor oil, at the bottom of the ravine, approximately 50 meters (164 feet) below the road.

Unfortunately, deadly road accidents remain a common occurrence in the Philippines, often attributed to rule violations by drivers and poorly maintained or overloaded vehicles.
