    In a solemn ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati, Justice Vijay Bishnoi took the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court. The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and witnessed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

    Appointment Notification

    The appointment of Justice Vijay Bishnoi as Chief Justice was made official through a notification by Narayan Prasad, Deputy Secretary to the Government of India. The notification, issued in accordance with Article 217 of the Constitution of India, stated that Justice Vijay Bishnoi, currently a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, assumes the role of Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

    Dignitaries Present at the Ceremony

    The event saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Ranjit Dass, Chief Secretary of Assam Paban Kumar Borthakur, Advocate General of Assam Devajit Saikia, and Director General of Police (DGP) G P Singh. Judges of the Gauhati High Court, members of the legal fraternity, and other senior officials of the State Government also attended the swearing-in ceremony.

    Justice Vijay Bishnoi’s assumption of the role as Chief Justice marks a significant moment for the judiciary in the region, and he is expected to contribute to the administration of justice in the Guwahati High Court.
