Kashmir Drought Situation: Anjuman Auqaf Urges ‘Salatul Istisqa’ at Jamia Masjid
The Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid expressed deep concern about the severe drought conditions in Kashmir and urged the public to join the ‘Salatul Istisqa’ at Jamia Masjid Srinagar to seek divine intervention for an end to the prolonged dry spell in the region. The organization emphasized that the absence of rain and snow not only affects those involved in agriculture but poses a threat to the entire community, potentially leading to the spread of diseases.
In a statement, the Anjuman Auqaf stressed the need for seeking forgiveness from Allah for any sins committed and proposed the organization of repentance meetings to beseech the Almighty for relief from the challenging situation. Under the auspices of Anjuman Auqaf, Salaatul Istisqa is scheduled to take place on January 12, 2024, following Friday prayers at the Central Jamia Masjid, Srinagar. The community at large is encouraged to actively participate in this prayer of repentance and forgiveness.
The Anjuman Auqaf called upon all imams of mosques, scholars, leaders of religious institutions, and the general Muslim population to organize “Istisqa” prayers at both individual and collective levels. The collective effort aims to seek forgiveness and divine favor, hoping for a positive change in the current adverse weather conditions in the valley.
