Private Schools strong Protest JKBOSE Decision in Jammu
In opposition to the recent decision by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to categorize students from private schools, a robust protest demonstration took place outside the BOSE office in Jammu.
This marked the first instance of a collaborative protest organized by private school owners, managements, teachers, drivers, and others, united to bring attention to the challenges they are currently confronting.
The protest, conducted under the banner of the J&K Private Schools Association, witnessed participants displaying placards and raising banners. Their primary appeal to JKBOSE was to permit all students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades (Regular) to take their exams from the same school where they were initially registered in the last session.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Ajay Gupta, the President of the Central Body of the JKPSA, deplored the fact that JKBOSE had set a new precedent by aligning students from private schools in Board classes (10th, 11th & 12th) with nearby Government schools. Gupta explained that this move, implemented near the end of the academic session, not only paralyzed the board classes but also rendered the entire system dysfunctional, affecting classes 1st to 8th. He further emphasized that JKBOSE had not considered the far-reaching implications of such categorization on the salaries of teachers, ministerial staff, drivers, cleaners, peons, as well as financial obligations like EMI payments, ESIC, EPFO, rent (in the case of rented buildings), and electricity bills.
Members of the protest demanded an immediate withdrawal of the order issued by JKBOSE regarding the tagging of students. They issued a stern warning of conducting similar protests across all corners of Jammu & Kashmir if the government did not revoke its controversial order against private schools.
Various speakers during the protest included Kamal Gupta (Chairman JKPSA), Deepak Handa (Sr Vice President), Sat Paul Mansotra (General Secretary), Sanjeev Luthra, Ajay Singh, R P Sharma, Lal Chand Gandotra, Vineet Gupta, Siddheshwar Sadotra, Laddi Kumar, Jatinder Heera, Vinit Gupta, Neeru Puri, Kanica Sharma, Tariq, Shafiq Ul Rehman, Gurbax Singh, Vishal Magotra, Naresh Kumar, Amajed, Anil Choudhary, Rashpal Singh, Dr Madan Mohan, Naresh Kumar, Ankur Arora, Rishab Choudhary, Subash Chib, Vidant, Manish Joshi, Vivek Chouhan, Rishab Mengi, Usha Jamwal, and others.
