Students from 60 Private Schools to Transition to Nearby Government Institutes: JKBOSE

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has taken action following the expiration of affiliations for sixty private academic institutions in the Kashmir Division that failed to submit extension case files. Consequently, students from these institutions, enrolled in secondary and senior secondary levels, will be enrolled in nearby government institutions.

The Deputy Secretary General of JKBOSE for the Kashmir division mentioned that directives have been issued to transfer the enrolled students of these sixty private schools (operating on proprietary land) to nearby government high or higher secondary schools. This measure is due to the expiration of affiliation for these private institutions and their failure to submit necessary extension case files.

In order to safeguard the academic future of these students, the affected schools’ students in classes 10th to 12th will be transferred to government schools. The concerned principals or cluster heads will facilitate this process by securing necessary discharge certificates for the students and submitting the Permission-Cum-Admission (PCA) forms and renewal registration returns to JKBOSE.

Additionally, the defaulter private schools are instructed not to admit any students from classes 9th to 12th in the next academic session (2024-2025) without formal affiliation and recognition from the board and the Government School Education Department. These measures are subject to the outcome of any pending writ petitions in courts of law.

JKBOSE has highlighted that approximately 200 private schools running institutions on state land and defaulting need to clear their title with the revenue department and provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) as per Statutory Order (SO) 177.

The government had earlier set conditions under SO-177 in April 2022 for private schools, delineating terms for registration, recognition, and affiliation.
