On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha approved two bills that expanded the scope of the women’s reservation law to the union territories of Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir. Sanjita Dogra, the President of J&K BJP Mahila Morcha, lauded the extension of the bill, describing it as a significant stride towards ‘Nari Shakti,’ emphasizing its pivotal role as ‘Rashtra Shakti’ – the strength of the nation.

The official name of the women’s reservation law is the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, 2023, aiming to provide 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.Dogra proclaimed that this day would be etched in India’s 75-year history as the moment when half of the nation’s population secured adequate representation in the highest legislative body.

She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing and successfully passing the bill in both houses.Emphasizing that women’s power is the nation’s power, Dogra envisioned both women and the nation reaching greater heights in the Amrit Kaal until 2047.
