Significance of the Royal Bengal Tiger
The Royal Bengal Tiger, known for its size, strength, and ferocity, is a prominent member of the Big Cat family. Each tiger has a unique stripe pattern, aiding in individual identification during tiger censuses. India is home to more than 75% of the global tiger population, with about 3,167 tigers as per the 2023 census.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for the Tigers
The new tiger enclosure at Jambu Zoo spans over 4,500 square meters, adhering to the norms set by the Central Zoo Authority. It features naturalistic elements, water ponds, machans, and heating and ventilation systems to accommodate extreme weather conditions. Initially, the tigers will be quarantined for a week before being introduced to the public.
Boost to Zoo Attractions and Education
The arrival of the Royal Bengal Tigers adds a significant attraction to Jambu Zoo, expected to draw interest from children, wildlife enthusiasts, and general visitors.
