    10 Killed in Small Plane Crash in Bahamas, Flamingo Air Flights Suspended

    VoM News Desk, July 11, 2026: All 10 people were killed after a small passenger plane identified as Cessna 402 crashed in the Bahamas as per Assosiated Press report, which lead to temporarily suspension of Flamingo Air’s operations.

    The Cessna 402 aircraft which had departed from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau and was en route to San Andros when it faced the unfortunate crash, as per Bahamian Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority.

    Earlier, Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis said that one person had survived but later confirmed that the individual died from injuries, raising the death toll to 10.

    Prime Minister expresses the condolences while adressing the nation on the Bahamas’ 53rd Independence Day, describing the tragedy as a day of national mourning.

    Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation suspended Flamingo Air’s air operator certificate as a precaution while the investigation continues.

    Whereas, the officials said the decision followed two separate safety incidents involving the airline on the same day.

    In another incident which took place on Friday, a Flamingo Air aircraft bound for Mayaguana returned to Nassau after the pilot reported a technical concern as the plane caught fire after landing and passengers had safely evacuates.

    Both the incidents are being investigated by the authorities, and so far, the investigators have not yet identified the victims or announced the cause of the fatal crash.
