    NEW DELHI, October 11, 2026 [VoM News]: The yesterday’s protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, three leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), were detained by police, now have been placed under preventive arrest, as per VoM sources.

    Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were reportedly detained on Saturday after their flight landed in Delhi. The three were taken into custody amid demonstrations against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

    Sources reliable stated the detained leaders were expected to be produced before an executive magistrate in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday.

    Despite their detention, CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that protesters would again attempt to march towards Jantar Mantar, maintaining their demand for the CEC’s resignation.

    More than 3,000 protesters, including political leaders, were reportedly detained before being released later that night.

    Delhi Police had deployed extensive security arrangements across the national capital, particularly around Jantar Mantar, to prevent disturbances during the demonstrations.

    The restrictions prompted protesters to assemble in smaller groups at different locations across Delhi.

    The allegations against the Election Commission remain contested, while the preventive arrests have raised questions about restrictions on public demonstrations.

     Amid the strong demonstrations, protests, in capital city of india, thousands of protestors were detained by the authorities.

    Meanwhile, the United Nations Human Rights Office has expressed concern over reports of mass detentions in India before and during large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.
