Uttarakhand Government Orders Closure of Liquor Shops Statewide on January 22 for Ram Temple’s “Pran Pratishtha” Ceremony

The Uttarakhand government has announced the closure of liquor shops, bars, and departmental stores across the state on January 22 to commemorate the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Excise Commissioner of Uttarakhand issued directives to the district administration, aligning with the significant event scheduled for January 22, 2024.

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony for the Ram Temple is set to take place on January 22, with Vedic rituals initiating on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple on the designated day.

Earlier, on January 11, the Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner had similarly directed the district administration to ensure the closure of all liquor shops in the state on January 22. The notice emphasized compliance with the government order, citing the importance of the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony at Shri Ram’s birthplace in Ayodhya.

As preparations intensify in Ayodhya for the grand event, including rituals performed by priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit and the organization of a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya, arrangements are being made to accommodate thousands of devotees expected to participate in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust aims to facilitate space for 10,000-15,000 people, ensuring a significant gathering for this historic occasion.
