Uttarakhand Amends Rules for Dependents of Deceased Govt Servants to Secure Employment
The Uttarakhand government has initiated pivotal amendments, offering dependents of deceased government servants the chance to apply for employment in Group D or Group C posts, specifically the role of Junior Assistant or its equivalent.
Through an order dated December 28, the government introduced amendments to the Uttar Pradesh Recruitment of Dependants of Government Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974.
This revised set of rules, termed the “Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Recruitment of Dependants of Government Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974) (Amendment) Rules, 2023,” has been promptly implemented.
As per the updated regulations, if a government servant passes away while in service, the spouse or eligible family members not employed under the Central or State Government, or any government-controlled corporation, can now seek employment in Group D or Group C roles.
However, this exemption from standard recruitment criteria requires applicants to meet educational qualifications and general eligibility for Government service. Additionally, applications must be submitted within five years of the government servant’s demise, as stipulated in the order.
The amendment underscores an effort to place such employment opportunities within the same department where the deceased government servant was previously employed.
The primary objective behind this amendment is to extend support and create opportunities for the dependents of deceased public servants.
This move by the Uttarakhand government aims to offer a support system for affected families while paving the way for suitable employment avenues within the governmental framework.
