US-Cuba Tensions Escalate as Miguel Díaz-Canel Warns of ‘Bloodbath If Attacks

HAVANA, MAY 19 [VoM News]: Conveying a strong message to Washington, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel warned that any American military attack on Cuba would trigger a bloodbath, escalating tensions between Havana and Washington.

The situation arose after Cuba had allegedly acquired hundreds of military drones from Russia and Iran.

After reported that Cuba had obtained more than 300 military drones since 2023, it was alleged that the drones could be used for strikes on the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, American military vessels, and even targets near Florida.

While responding to the allegations, Díaz-Canel said Cuba “poses no threat” to the United States but insisted that the island has the legitimate right to defend itself against any aggression.
