
India Condemns Attacks on Ships in Strait of Hormuz at UN Security Council; Calls for Immediate De-escalation
New Delhi, July 29, 2026 [VoM News]: In a major move, India has strongly condemned the recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the renewed escalation of hostilities in West Asia as deeply concerning.
As per details available, India has called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions.
Parvathaneni Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, made these remarks while addressing a United Nations Security Council open debate on the Middle East.
He said India remains deeply concerned over the resurgence of violence after a brief pause in the conflict.

India calls for an immediate de-escalation of tensions, stressing the need to restore peace, security and stability in the region, said Harish.
India has condemned the attacks on commercial vessels, including GFS Galaxy, MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa, which came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month.
India has consistently maintained that violence targeting civilian seafarers and disruption to international maritime trade should be avoided.
