As per details available to VoM News, the charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, destruction of evidence and offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, have been imposed.
The CBI has documented the support of 360 witnesses, 422 documents and 43 material objects. All 13 accused are currently in judicial custody.
The digital forensic reports, handwriting expert opinions and academic analysis confirmed that leaked examination questions were circulated before the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 examination, the Central Bureau of investigation has stated.
The investigation agency CBI took over the case on May 12, began its investigation and revealed the alleged conspiracy from the source of the leak to the beneficiary candidates.
The investigation agency said it raided 92 locations across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and other states, and traced money trail and froze multiple bank accounts, bank lockers and a demat account linked to the accused.
Following the allegations of a paper leak, the NEET-UG 2026 examination was cancelled and a re-examination was conducted on June 21.
But, re-examination not went right, as lead to widespread protests, demanding the reforms in the public examination system, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharminder Pradhan, who later resigned.
