Tehran-Dubai Flight Services to Resume Tomorrow, Iranian Media Reports
Flights will resume on Monday between Tehran and Dubai just weeks after Iran launched drones and missiles against targets in the United Arab Emirates during Middle East war, media in the country said.
“All necessary preparations have been made for the revival of the Tehran-Dubai flight path from Imam Khomeini Airport,” Iran’s Imam Khomeini Airport Director General Ramin Kashefazar was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency and Iranian state television.
Tickets for Monday’s 10:40 (0730 GMT) flight by the Iranian carrier Sepehran to Dubai are now on sale online on the airline’s website.
During the conflict, Dubai airport was targeted by drones multiple times, which led to a shutdown of the facilities and temporary flight suspensions.
Images were released of one incident where an incoming aircraft appeared to explode in the sky near the concourse after being hit by a missile and fell to the tarmac in pieces. Iran launched its own wave of drone and missile strikes against targets in the Gulf following an attack on an Iranian target by US and Israeli forces, but maintained it aimed for US facilities and not civilian sites.
Dubai was the busiest airport in the world for international travel before the conflict, however the number of passengers decreased by 66% year-on-year in the period when the war was ongoing.
A ceasefire has been holding since April of this year, despite recurrent skirmishes and there is now in the process a 60-day period of talks between US and Iranian delegations to negotiate a comprehensive peace settlement.
