    Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati Appointed Chief Justice of Jammu kashmir and Ladakh High Court

    Jammu, September 07, 2026 [VoM News]: The President of India has green signalled the appointment of Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati, who is currently a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

    With this development, Justice Bhati has become the 39th Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

    Born on September 21, 1970, Justice Bhati completed his B.A., LL.B. and LL.M. in Mercantile Law. He later earned a Ph.D. on “Promotion & Seniority in Public Employment, its Changing Dimensions and Role of Supreme Court.”

    He enrolled as an advocate in 1992 and practised extensively before the Rajasthan High Court. During his legal career, he also served as the Additional Advocate General of Rajasthan** and remained associated with the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers’ Association, including serving as its president.

    Justice Bhati was elevated to the Rajasthan High Court Bench on November 16, 2016.

    Following his appointment, as the CJ of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, he will now exercise the jurisdiction over the two Union Territories.

    The appointment marks an important change in the leadership of the High Court, with Justice Bhati bringing several years of experience from the Bar as well as the Bench.
