Jharkhand Govt Calls for Peaceful Talks with Students Over Job Exam Dispute Today
Ranchi, Aug. 17, 2026 [VoM News]:The Jharkhand government has called the students protesting irregularities in the recruitment exams for fresh talks today as the agitation enters its 24 th day.
The decision was taken after the meeting with the protesters taken by the Sub-Divisional Officer and Additional District Magistrate (L & O) at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, where students were on hartal.
An official has confirmed that the protesters have been invited for discussions at 2 pm today and have also been given the choice to take part in the deliberations with their legal representative.

The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch leading the agitation has agreed to the Government proposal for discussion, but the Manch leaders said that their demands are not to be compromised with. The talks will take place in the presence of students’ legal advisers at the State Guest House, said leders.
We will surely participate in the talks, because we want this issue resolved by talking and not fighting. But, we are adamant on two things first, a CBI inquiry into any irregularities in the recruitment tests and second, scrapping the JSSC-CGL exams,”said Paswan.
The nine rounds of talks between the government and the protesting students have failed to achieve any breakthrough. The last meeting on August 9, ended without a resolution.
Protesters demand an independent CBI inquiry into the scams related to JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations and a cancellation of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination.
Paswan mentioned that the total tally of student representatives scheduled for today’s discussion will be announced soon.
