In a significant development, President Droupadi Murmu announced that the budgetary provisions for Ladakh have increased fivefold over the last four years, demonstrating the Central Government’s dedication to the Union Territory’s growth. This remarkable progress highlights the Union Territory’s vital role in India’s development landscape.

During a special function held in Leh on Ladakh UT Foundation Day, President Murmu emphasized the importance of guiding Ladakh towards comprehensive development while preserving its natural beauty and cultural heritage. This approach is crucial to maintaining Ladakh’s unique identity and fostering sustainable growth.

President Murmu emphasized the Central Government’s strong focus on infrastructure development to enhance connectivity in Ladakh. Simultaneously, the government places a high priority on preserving Ladakh’s environmental integrity through responsible and sustainable tourism practices.

The President lauded the remarkable progress of the Union Territory and commended Lieutenant Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra and the local community for their unwavering efforts in driving Ladakh’s progress. She reassured the people of Ladakh that the entire nation stands by them, and Ladakh will continue to flourish and maintain its esteemed reputation.
In addition to these bold themes, President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Ladakh on the Union Territory’s Foundation Day was marked by several significant announcements and celebrations. She highlighted the Central Government’s initiatives aimed at linking Ladakh with the global community, such as hosting the Youth-20 pre-Summit during the G20 Presidency. She expressed hope that Ladakh would play a leading role in India’s mission for a Developed India by 2047, focusing on economic, environmental, and human development.Furthermore, the President acknowledged Ladakh’s journey towards becoming a carbon-neutral region and praised the establishment of high-latitude green hydrogen fueling stations, as well as the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) project, which will generate 13,000 megawatts of renewable energy.
Additionally, President Murmu recognized the establishment of the University of Ladakh in 2019 and commended the progress at Sindhu Central University, which is poised to become one of the nation’s top institutions.The President also lauded the local initiatives, such as the Sustainable Industrial Policy 2022-2027, the Brand Ladakh Emporium in New Delhi, and the various steps taken to support economic independence among the youth.
She appreciated the vibrant culture of Ladakh and its rich heritage, which was showcased during cultural performances by students from local schools.Finally, the celebration of Ladakh’s Foundation Day was marked by a screening of a video highlighting the Union Territory’s achievements over the past four years, demonstrating the remarkable progress Ladakh has made and the commitment of the Central Government to its development.
