Pakistan: Karachi, Balochistan See Fresh Reports of Enforced Disappearances

Islamabad, 10 August [VoM News]: Reports have emerged that a number of people, two of whom are reportedly 14-year-old students, have been targeted and forcibly disappeared in individual incidents in Karachi and the Pakistani province of Balochistan. The Balochistan Post has revealed the information.

The report stated that three of the most recent three cases were reported from Tikri in Karachi’s Mauripur area.

Sources claimed 28 year-old labourer Sabir was reportedly arrested by Pakistan Rangers in Basti Kalwari, Sukha Thal – his residence, at approximately 8:30 p.m. On 6 August. His present location is not known.

In another case, the Pakistan Rangers claimed to have arrested 30-year-old Abdul Aziz from his home in Karachi at approximately 2 a.m. The next day.

A third resident, 28-year-old shopkeeper Aamir, was reportedly taken into custody by officials of the Pakistan Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) at approximately 8 p.m. On August 5.

According to their families, no official information has been given about the three men’s whereabouts following their detention.

According to a video statement posted on social media, Asma Jattak claimed that her father and brothers had been extorted and threatened with death by a local armed group led by Zahoor Jamalzai.
