Car Crashes into Under-Construction Bridge on Surat-Chennai Expressway in Karnataka, 4 Killed

Karnataka, November 8, 2026 (VoM News): Atleast, four persons have lost their lives after the car in which they were travelling, rammed into an under-construction bridge on the Surat-Chennai Expressway near Ibrahimpur in Shahapur taluk, officials said.

As per details gathered by VoM News, the victims were returning to their native village on Saturday after visiting the Bhavani Devi temple at Tuljapur in Maharashtra when this unfortunate accident took place.

As per available details, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the bridge structure.

Two persons died at the scene, while the other two sustained critical injuries and were taken to a hospital, where, they later succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased were identified as Gururaj Suresh Chavan, 29, Reddy Bagla Rathod, 33, Govinda Seethya Chavan, 28, and Kumar Ramu Rathod, 26.

Meanwhile, the officials habe registered a case at Shahapur police station, and further investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
