MLA Shakti Raj Parihar Urges CM Omar Abdullah to Amend CDF Norms for Quick Aid to Doda Rain Victims
Doda, Sept 8: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Doda West, Shakti Raj Parihar, has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeking urgent intervention to support families affected by the recent spell of heavy rainfall across District Doda.
In his letter, dated September 4, 2025, Parihar highlighted that the torrential rains have caused extensive damage to houses and properties, leaving several families in distress and in urgent need of relief.
Parihar has proposed an amendment in the guidelines governing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which would enable MLAs to directly extend assistance to victims of natural calamities. He argued that such a provision would ensure timely relief to families whose homes and properties have been severely damaged, addressing their immediate needs in an effective manner.
“The affected families are under great distress and are in urgent need of support. Allowing MLAs to use CDF directly for such situations will help deliver quick assistance,” Parihar wrote.
The MLA urged the Chief Minister to consider the proposal, stressing that a prompt policy adjustment could significantly improve the delivery of aid in disaster-hit regions like Doda.
