Since the revelation of the title of Vikas Bahl’s upcoming film “Shaitaan,” featuring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Madhavan, an air of mystery has surrounded the project. On Thursday, the filmmakers unveiled a teaser lasting over a minute, providing a glimpse into the spine-chilling nature of the film. Confirming suspicions from the first look released on Wednesday, the teaser reveals Madhavan in the role of the titular Shaitaan (evil).

The teaser commences with a haunting voice-over by Madhavan, narrating his ability to ensnare unsuspecting humans. He declares, “They say the world is deaf. And yet, they follow every word of mine. I am the darkness, and temptation, from sinister prayers to forbidden spells, I rule the nine circles of hell.”

Madhavan continues, “I am the poison and cure both. I am a silent witness to everything endured. I am the night, twilight, I am the universe. I create, sustain, destroy, so beware. They say that I spare no one. There’s a game…do you want to play? It has only one rule, no matter what I say, you must not be tempted.”

The teaser unveils glimpses of voodoo dolls and other occult symbols, suggesting the film’s involvement with black magic. Madhavan’s sinister smile at the conclusion of the teaser leaves Ajay and Jyotika visibly disturbed. “Shaitaan” is scheduled for release on March 8, and although the plot details are shrouded in secrecy, the lead cast has been dropping hints through their captions on social media.

Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Ajay warns, “Woh poochega tumse… ek khel hai, kheloge? Par uske behkaave mein mat aana! (He will ask you… it’s a game, will you play? But don’t fall for his temptation)” Jyotika adds, “Khel bhi uska, aur niyam bhi uske. Kuch aisa hai #Shaitaan ka behkaava. (The game is his, and so are the rules. That’s how he tempts you.)” Madhavan’s caption reads, “Chahe jo bhi ho jaye, uske behkaave mein mat aana. (No matter what happens, don’t be tempted by him.)”

In “Shaitaan,” Jyotika makes a return to Hindi cinema after a hiatus, while Janki Bodiwala makes her debut. The film is presented by Jio Studios, Ajay Devgn Ffilms, and Panorama Studios International, with production credits going to Ajay, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak. The music for the film is composed by Devi Sri Prasad. There’s speculation about whether the film is a remake of Krishnadev Yagnik’s 2023 Gujarati film “Vash.”

As for their upcoming projects, Ajay, last seen in the 2023 film “Bholaa,” is set to appear in “Maidaan,” “Singham Again,” “Raid 2,” and “Auron Mei Kahan Dum Tha.” Madhavan, recently featured in the mini-series “The Railway Men,” is expected in “Test,” “Amriki Pandir,” “The Untold Story of C Sankraran Nair,” and an untitled Tamil film. Jyotika, who starred in the Malayalam film “Kaathal – The Core,” is lined up for “Sri” and “Dabba Cartel.”
