Following the resignation of Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday has called off its 36-day nationwide protest.

The Central govt led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also agreed to key demands raised by the protesting students.

With the resignation of Union Education Minister, one of the largest youth-led movements over examination reforms in recent years came to end but still something is left.

CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in presence of Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh during joint conference said the protest was being withdrawn in good faith after the government accepted all major demands.

Meanwhile, as per reports, the government has agreed to withdraw FIRs registered against protesters in Delhi and BJP-ruled states, ensure that no further retaliatory action is taken against protestors participants.

Where, as the compensation, as per rules, to the families of students who died by suicide following the NEET controversy, also has been demanded.

Now, as the 36-day-long protest ended, but fiasco still continues as both sides will meet again after four weeks to discuss a five-point charter on reforms in the examination system.

As per CJP, the government has assured that a written response on the agreed points will be shared by Tuesday.

Union Minister JP Nadda confirmed that discussions were held on the protesters’ demands, including withdrawal of police cases, compensation for affected families and examination reforms.

He said the government had accepted the issues raised and requested protesters to peacefully end the sit-in.

The protest, which began at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 20, was launched over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, irregularities in public examinations and demands for greater accountability in the education system.

This youth movement drew thousands of students from across the country and gained support from several opposition parties and public figures.

The arrival of the renowned activist Sonam Wangchuk was the key moment after the Union leaders met him and assured of the necessary actions.

The agitation intensified after activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the protest with an indefinite hunger strike on June 28, and later, was removed by police to a hospital on July 18 further triggering the nationwide demonstrations.

Two days later, thousands attempted to march towards Parliament, leading to clashes with police, who used tear gas and batons to disperse protesters.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke described the end of the agitation as the beginning of a larger movement rather than its conclusion.

In a video message, he thanked protesters, volunteers and critics alike, saying the movement succeeded because of the collective participation of young people across the country.

“What began as a satirical campaign became a nationwide call for accountability. This is only the beginning,” Dipke said.

The students are considering the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan – a turning point in the protest, leading to the celebrations of democratic action at Jantar Mantar.
