    Following the Supreme Court’s Order, Uttar Pradesh Govt Reconstitutes SIT to Probe Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam

    Lucknow, July 26, 2026 [VoM News]: In a major development related to Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam, the Uttar Pradesh government has reconstituted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged embezzlement of offerings at the holy site following directions from the apex Court.

    The SIT which has been newly re-constituted will be headed by Inspector General (IG) Kiran S, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ayodhya Somen Verma, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ayodhya Dr Gaurav Grover serve as members.

    Earlier, a probe team was initiated having the Lucknow Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan Kumar, among other officials.

    The Supreme Court heard the matter on July 13, and issues the direction to the state government to form a fresh SIT under the leadership of a senior IPS officer.

    The bench, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohan, also sought a status report by July 27.

    Whereas, sources have told VoM News that the newly formed SIT has begun its investigation into the alleged irregularities involving temple offerings, and further details are yet awaited.

    As the matter is related to faith, transparency, and accountability, the govt has vowed to make the exemplary punishment to the culprits, however, which would be subjected to the timemachine, whether govt make it an exemplary or fails to do so.
