Ladakh MP Meets Home Minister Amit Shah to Discuss District Creation
Ladakh’s Member of Parliament, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, recently held a meeting with the Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah, to advocate for the comprehensive development of the region. During the discussion, the primary focus was on the proposal for establishing new administrative districts for Zanskar, Nubra, and other areas within the Union Territory of Ladakh.
MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal underscored the urgency of expediting recruitment for government gazetted positions to address youth unemployment and promote overall economic development in Ladakh.
In addition to these concerns, MP JTN also pressed for an amendment to confer legislative powers upon the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDCs) of Leh and Kargil. This proposed amendment would empower the councils to legislate on crucial matters such as land, employment, environment, culture, and language. MP JTN emphasized that this constitutional empowerment aligns with the aspirations of the people of Ladakh for adequate safeguards.
During the meeting, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal expressed gratitude to Home Minister Amit Shah for the continuous support of the Modi Sarkar and urged for ongoing assistance to further the development initiatives in Ladakh. The collaboration between Ladakh’s representative and the Home Minister is pivotal in addressing the region’s developmental needs and ensuring that the aspirations of the local population are duly recognized and safeguarded.
