During the momentous convocation ceremony for the 2023 All India Trade Test graduates, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took center stage in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). This significant event marked not only the achievement of the ITI graduates but also the unveiling of several groundbreaking initiatives aimed at advancing the educational landscape. The newly launched initiatives include a Portal for Ranking Polytechnics, an Innovation Portal for Science and Technology, and the Centralized Academic Monitoring and Improvement System.
In recognizing the historical significance of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), which have served as the cornerstone of the skill sector for many decades, the Lieutenant Governor acknowledged their immense contribution to industrial progress and production.

However, in light of the ever-expanding realm of technology and the emergence of new sectors on the horizon, a transformation of ITIs has become a pressing necessity. The evolving demands of the skilled workforce require that ITIs adapt and modernize.The region of Jammu and Kashmir, blessed with a favorable demographic advantage, possesses the potential to emerge as the preeminent hub for highly skilled human resources within the nation.
To actualize this potential and create a workforce that will shape the future, a pivotal role is assigned to the skill ecosystem, comprising ITIs and polytechnics.The call for a comprehensive overhaul and modernization of ITIs has been sounded, emphasizing the need to align training and infrastructure with global standards.
It is imperative to establish a holistic and quality-driven ITI ecosystem that can cater to the surging demand for skilled workers within the Union Territory of J&K. This mission aligns with the vision of the Lieutenant Governor’s office, seeking to fortify the skill development landscape and ensure that Jammu and Kashmir becomes a beacon of highly skilled professionals.
