J&K High Court Makes AIBE Qualification Mandatory for Advocates Enrolled Since 2009-10

    Certificate of Practice to be submitted within one month by advocates enrolled after July 1, 2010, who have cleared AIBE

    Srinagar: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has notified the implementation of Rules 9, 10 and 11 of Chapter III, Part VI of the Bar Council of India Rules concerning the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) for advocates enrolled across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

    As per the notification issued by Registrar General M.K. Sharma on October 10, 2026, the decision follows the approval granted by the Full Court at its meeting held on October 8, 2026, accepting the recommendations of the Rules Committee dated August 19, 2026.

    Under the notification, law graduates enrolled as advocates with the Bar Council of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh who graduated in the academic year 2009–2010 onwards must qualify the AIBE if they have not already cleared the examination.
