Infant Girl Found Dead in GMC Doda Bathroom, Police Register FIR
A newborn female infant was found dead in the bathroom of the Emergency Ward at Government Medical College (GMC) Doda, police said on Monday.
According to officials, the body of the infant, aged approximately 5–6 months, was discovered at around 1600 hours on Sunday. Police said the child had been abandoned at the spot.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Police Post District Hospital (PP DH) Doda registered an FIR (No. 221/2025) under section 94 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Investigating Officer, along with a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and a crime photographer, visited the location to collect evidence and complete legal and scientific formalities. The body was subsequently taken into custody for medico-legal examination.
Police said investigation into the case is underway and further legal action will follow in accordance with law.
