
Indian Army Defuses 175 Explosives in Leh, Local Residents Thankful. Pic/daily excelsior
The Army has recently undertaken a demining mission across three regions within the Leh district, successfully neutralizing 175 explosive devices, according to official reports released on Thursday. This proactive initiative was in direct response to the urgent appeals of the local residents residing along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh region.

Expressing their heartfelt gratitude, the villagers of Phobrang, Yourgo, and Lukung extended their appreciation to the Fire and Fury Corps for their prompt and efficient efforts in securing and clearing the area, rendering it free from the threat of over 175 mines. Deputy Commissioner of Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, conveyed the villagers’ sentiments, underlining the significance of this decisive action in alleviating the safety concerns of the local populace and fortifying the robust bond between the civilian and military communities in Ladakh.
In a poignant acknowledgment, the sarpanch of Phobrang conveyed his gratitude towards the Indian Army for eliminating these mines, which had posed a longstanding threat since their placement back in 1962, causing harm and damage to the residents.
