
India and Japan Fortify Ties: MoS Muraleedharan’s Fruitful Visit
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
During his visit to Japan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, engaged in key discussions with Japanese officials to bolster the bilateral partnership between India and Japan. His visit, from November 8 to November 10, included significant meetings with Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Iwao Horii, and Taku Ishii, Parliamentary Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. These meetings focused on various topics of mutual interest, underscoring the strong ties between the two nations.
Engagements with Business Leaders and the Indian Community
Muraleedharan’s itinerary in Japan also involved interactions with Japanese business leaders in Tokyo. He further extended his outreach to the Indian community in both Tokyo and Osaka, fostering cultural and diaspora connections. These interactions not only reinforced economic ties but also strengthened the social and cultural bonds between India and Japan.
Visits to Key Japanese Prefectures and Universities
The Union Minister’s visit included stops at significant prefectures such as Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Oita. In these regions, he met with local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, and the Governor of Oita, Kiichiro Sato. Additionally, Muraleedharan visited Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Oita, where he delivered a lecture on ‘India and the Emerging World’ and interacted with students. He also visited Otani University in Kyoto to unveil a bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, symbolizing the deep cultural connections between India and Japan.
