According to details obtained by the news agency KNO, an impressive 74,026 votes were cast in the election today. The stage was set for a fierce face-off with the NC-Congress alliance locking horns with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Local Democracy in Action: Notable Turnouts
The highest voter turnout was observed in the Bimbhat seat, with 4,468 ballots cast. Shargole followed closely with 3,768 votes, and Ranbirpora with 3,760. A total of 85 candidates are vying for the 26 seats of the Council, making it the highest elected body for the region. Interestingly, the BJP fielded candidates for 17 seats, sparking a fierce contest.
