DHEW Doda holds awareness programme regarding women centric schemes
In an effort to empower women and spread awareness about various government schemes tailored for their welfare, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Doda, operating under Mission Shakti, recently conducted an enlightening program at Polytechnic College Doda.
Understanding Women-Centric Schemes
The event, directed by the District Social Welfare Officer, saw the participation of both staff and students of Government Polytechnic College. Addressing the gathering, Humerah Balwan, a Gender specialist from DHEW, shed light on the eligibility criteria and application procedures for several social welfare schemes. These encompassed a spectrum of government initiatives, including the Integrated Social Security Scheme, UT Marriage Assistance Scheme, PMMVY, BBBP, skill development courses by SBI RSETI, PMKVY, and women entrepreneurship programs like PMEGP and Tejaswini, among others.

Securing the Future: Sukanya Samridhi Yojana and More
Balwan also emphasized the significance of schemes like Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, designed to secure the future of girl children. In addition, she provided insights into the services offered by the One Stop Centre and raised awareness about various departments available for women in distress, such as DHEW, OSC, women’s police station, and special cells dedicated to women’s issues.
Engaging the Youth: A Call to Action
During the program, the Principal of Polytechnic College Doda encouraged students not only to benefit from these schemes themselves but also to disseminate information to deserving individuals. He also urged the youth to actively participate in eradicating drug abuse within society. The Principal emphasized the role of social responsibility in the community, encouraging the youth to refrain from drug-related activities and influence others to do the same.
Interactive Learning: Q&A and Shakhi Niwas Awareness
The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants with the opportunity to seek clarification on various aspects of the discussed schemes. Additionally, awareness regarding Shakhi Niwas, a crucial initiative, was imparted to the students, further enhancing their understanding of the available support systems for women in need.
