Delhi Court Reserves Order on Engineer Rashid’s Bail Application
The Delhi Patiala House Court has reserved its decision on the bail application of Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, following a detailed in-camera hearing. The court’s order is expected to be pronounced on September 4.
Last week, the court had sought a response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) concerning Rashid’s bail application. Rashid, a Kashmiri parliamentarian, has been imprisoned in connection with a 2017 terror funding case in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite his incarceration, Rashid won the Baramulla seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, defeating former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah.
The case has drawn significant attention due to Rashid’s political standing and the ongoing security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir.
