
DC Kishtwar holds District Level Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) Meeting
DDC emphasizes the need to strengthen the cooperative movement at the grassroots level
Kishtwar, September 30: The District Level Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) meeting was today held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS). The meeting was convened by Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies (Agri.) Kishtwar, Sh. Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various important agenda points, including the registration of the District Cooperative Federation, implementation of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector, review of the progress achieved under the Margdarshika Programme, and approval of units under the Food Processing Scheme for Cooperative Societies/Cooperatives.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasized the need to strengthen the cooperative movement at the grassroots level, adding that cooperatives play a vital role in ensuring the socio-economic empowerment of people.
The DC directed the officers to reach out to farmers for forming cooperatives of Kala Zeera, Chilgoza, organic garlic, and other niche(local) products that hold immense potential to create strong market opportunities not only in Kishtwar but also across the country.

The DC also directed the officers to reach out to farmers engaged in apiculture in the district and promote the formation of beekeeping cooperatives to boost honey production and create new livelihood opportunities.
He urged all concerned departments and stakeholders to work in close coordination for the effective implementation of government initiatives in the cooperative sector.
The Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies briefed the committee about the progress of ongoing schemes and assured all possible support to registered cooperatives for maximizing benefits under various programmes.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to further promote cooperative institutions in the district and encourage wider participation of people in the cooperative sector.
